Portraits Scanned

These large, high resolution photos were all composed on a scanner. The process of capturing the images takes over two minutes and echoes the 19th century collodion photographic process. Ana Kostov said it best and most flatteringly when she wrote about this series in Art Ascent Magazine: "photographic prints made by Hugo Hentoff are imbued with contradictions. Intricately detailed hair of the portrayed subjects stands in opposition to their blurry, hard-to-recognize faces, allowing for free interpretation of their physical characteristics, as well as their true character...encapsulating more than mere physicality of the models"
